Our Sydney team has created a snapshot of the Australian and New Zealand esports landscape to help brands evaluate how best to engage audiences through effective esport marketing in this space.\r\nHow to break into the esport marketing world?\r\nIt\u2019s no secret that professional video gaming, or \u2018esports\u2019, has become the trending topic of conversation for many marketers looking for ways to reach young consumers and position their brand at the forefront of youth culture. But there\u2019s a steep learning curve for any brand attempting to break into the scene in an authentic way and marketers can be forgiven for not knowing their \u2018nerf\u2019 from their \u2018smurf\u2019 at the outset.\r\n\r\nThere are a plethora of publishers, games, teams, events, leagues and broadcasters as well as a new lexicon to contend with.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nYou can download the full size infographic\u00a0HERE.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nHow to navigate the map?\r\nRecognising the potentially overwhelming nature of the local esports scene, we decided to publish a comprehensive map of the landscape to solve the headache and explain how the major players are aligned. Anyone can navigate the landscape by noting the numerical and colour references as they relate to each part of the colour coded ecosystem.\r\n\r\n\u201cWe work with many of the major games publishers but our work on League of Legends over the last 3 years, in particular, has given us a pretty unique perspective on esports\u201d says Matt Lawton, Managing Director of our Sydney office. \u201cA lot of brands have approached us asking for help navigating the landscape so we wanted to help make sense of it and publish this infographic for easy reference.\u201d\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nLawton admits that, with brands flocking to support various parts of the ecosystem, it won\u2019t be long before the infographic needs updating. In the meantime, it\u2019s hoped it provides a useful way for brand managers to understand how their competitors are engaging gamers and evaluate the most compelling alignment opportunities for them to enter the space and nail their esport marketing.\r\nIt\u2019s on the menu.\r\nThere have been a number of recent esports conferences in Australia and they all open with an orientation session to explain how esports broadcasters, publishers, games, events, teams, sponsors and third parties all relate.
