CLIENT
Ola
In early 2018, Uberʼs Indian rival Ola, announced its first overseas expansion into Australia.

Five by Five was appointed without pitch based on our strong launch credentials to manage
creative campaigns to make Ola a household name.
But you canʼt run an on demand taxi service without drivers. So, we started with a recruitment campaign, swiftly followed by a huge multi-city launch campaign to drive (pun intended) app downloads in 5 major metro locations. The market was highly competitive and national rollout plans were fluid – local marketing launch campaigns were activated based on state operating license approvals.
A ‘free ridesʼ offer, carefully targeted to youth audiences, was smashed out across multiple
platforms including OOH, digital and social. Ola had most definitely arrived in Australia. Culturally, Ola struggled to align to the expectations of Australian
consumers who valued clean cars, swift pick-up times and app features more than price. We resigned the account after 6 months but with the satisfaction of knowing weʼd met the demands of a hectic tech startup unicorn.
